A million miles away from a safe ‘here I am’ Radio/Pop friendly debut, Novacane is a dark tale about loneliness, prostitution and desparation over a powerful bassline and perfectly placed keyboard riff. This is a ‘take notice’ track built on REAL themes but what draws you to Frank Ocean is his ability to tell a story. Where did this guy come from? Well, Frank had the fortuity to be born and raised under the creative, vibrant and colourful music scene of New Orleans.
Frank has quietly been gaining noteriaty over the last couple years sharing his acclaimed and FREE mixtape, Nostalgia, Ultra. Putting pen to paper for the likes of Beyonce and John Legend. Even called upon to craft a hook or two for seasoned veterans Jay-Z and Kanye West.
Anticipation is building for the young R n B singer’s debut studio album, tentatively scheduled for Spring/Summer 2012 release. He’s been teasing us, the fans, for a while now, deliberately leaking song snippets on the web. Coupled with the fact that he penciled in to open for Chris Martin and Co. on a number of their European shows, the future is beginning to look very bright indeed for Mr Frank Ocean
