New York really is the mecca for great new American music at the moment! I’ve always thought of NYC as being the birth place of Hip Hop, bagels, a top quality accent, and terrible Mafia films (sorry Andy Clarke). Recently however almost every game changing band I come across is from this great city, and in such a variety of different genre’s. I found this duo gem of a band while surfing the music blogs, and the track “Dreamers” made me immediately fall in love with them.

Savoir Adore were apparently born out of a dare back in 2007 between the two leading artists, Paul Hammer, and Deidre Muro. They wanted to see if two solo artists could write an EP in 48 hours, with no acoustic guitars, a strange dare I know, but the result is the band I know now.

“Dreamers” reminds me so much of The Human League, with the great lyrical exchanges between between Paul and Deidre, and the fact that their voices are so familiar with that decade of music, I am really enjoying the re-birth of the 80’s sound today! The thumping start of the track is so infectious, that every time it reappears, I find myself head banging like a Goth freshly fired up by a bout of Slipknot. “Dreamers” is also able to change so easily from the more bouncy sound that accompanies Paul’s lyrics, to the soft synthesized atmospheric chorus to complement Deidre’s voice, it really is a fantastic advert of the 80’s sound, remixed, and reborn today.

This band are number 1 on my playlist at the moment, in the car, bath, bedroom, basically anywhere I can get my hands on this music, it help’s that Deidre Muro is a bit stunning as well (Google her). I hope you guys enjoy this band as much as I do, they will not be to everyone’s taste, but I’m sure they’ll appeal to that little 80’s star in most of us, schmear me!
