From Athens, Georgia USA comes a band called Reptar, their name invokes thoughts of Jurassic Park, and all things scaly, but their music could not be more different. They play under the brand of music called Disco Dust, which sounds like something Fairy’s armed with Flares would sprinkle, but in reality the sound this band produces is something unexpected and unique. After listening to their debut album Body Faucet, all I can say is I love It! Their sound is so quirky and left-field, you are not quite sure what to expect next.

With the track “Orifice Origami”, you certainly do not expect the name, and I’m pretty sure I don’t want to know what that is, but it is a superb sounding piece of music. The track begin’s with a human voice backing that is strangely addictive, then a piano kicks in that builds and builds, keeping you on tender hooks that something good is about to happen. Then the song suddenly blasts a magnitude of music that always gives me a buzz when I hear it, you just want to sing along, and then pretty soon you find yourself playing the drums on your legs. The vocals Graham Ulicny produce match the band so well, soft and then powerful, almost gravelly when required, and always beautifully supported by the other artists in the band. My enthusiasm aside, it will be interesting to see what the rest of the world make of this band, everyone will definitely have their own view.

Body Faucet went live, and available to download on May 1st, and I think that everyone should have a copy of this album, for one of those BBQ nights when most of your friends have gone home, and your closest are sat around in the back garden. Put this track on first and see what everyone’s reaction is, it will be worth it. The point of The Music Knights is to find new and interesting artists, and with Reptar I believe I have found something unique as well, which makes it so satisfying. I am intrigued to see what this band come up with next, excitement origami!
