Wow the brits have some great music at the moment! We have already reviewed some of the best artists from this year on The Music Knights, and with Polarsets, I am hoping this is a band to make it big in the second half of 2012. Polarsets hail from Newcastle, and I know what you’re thinking, I love Gregg’s sandwiches too, he he. They play Electronic Indie, it sounds strange I know, but bear with me.

The music this band produces reminds of a British act called Friendly Fires, with great use of percussion, synth, and dance beats, they are a Smorgasbord of sound, but I think Polarsets are an improvement. An improvement because I never felt I could relax listening to a Friendly Fires track, they were always a little chaotic, but Polarsets seem to have the balance just right, in particular with the vocal’s. Rob Howe has a voice made for this style of music, and with their latest single “Morning”, there is no better example of this. I can’t tell you how relaxed this song makes me, I may as well be taking a hit on a bong, while an hot Egyptian lady feeds me grapes! The track has a fantastic thumping beat throughout, greatly matched by the baseline that makes you want to tap every limb. Rob Howe then perfects the track by delivering his chilled lyrics, practically humming his way through. Just imagine listening to this tune after the best night out, beer in your hand, and your arm round your significant other, watching the sun come up…..chills!

I was a fan of this style of music before, but Polarsets have just raised the bar. The band’s debut EP is due out in June, and I suggest you go and download it (or buy the CD, sorry parents), as this could be the start of another great British electronic group, and I want to take a front seat, sit back and enjoy!
