Picture the scene, it`s a Tuesday night, I am frantically scanning the blogs for new tunes, with panic ever so slightly starting to set in. Worst of all my mind is not 100% on the job at hand, as one of the great world cup games between Belgium and USA roars on in the background. Every scream from the crowed breaking my concentration, and causing me to perform a Salmon like leap in the air to see what mischief is afoot.

After retaking my precarious seating position and pressing play on an unknown track, my ears were suddenly filled with this awesome raw sound, just a girl and her guitar, my chair squeaking with delight as I sprang up to see Misty Miller`s name staring back at me.

When “Petrified” started playing, for the next 3 minutes nothing else really seemed to register around me. Like a freshly glamoured character from True Blood, I was captivated with the pure stripped back nature of the track, but mainly with Misty`s voice, with that naturally distorted mic adding a bit of extra gravel. The sound reminisent of an open mic night in a smokey North Carolina bar. And forgive me for sounding like i`m describing a cup of coffee, but it is so rich, so smooth, and so complex, you have to ask yourself, how can something so sweet come from someone so young!?

The answer is because she is a special artist, as there not many who can write such a flowing peice, and still possess a voice that has such range and tangible emotion. You can feel what every single word means to her, which is a credit to her song writing for someone already so in touch with that beautiful musical brain. Something tells me we are only scratching the surface of the potential this refreshing Londoner has.

The scary thing is, this girl wrote “Petrified” at 15, is performing it at 19, and has a voice with such depth and emotion, the themes and thoughts belong to an artist way beyond her youthful years. Someone who has a lifetime of relationships and experiences behind them, but she is extraordinary to have already found it. The question for Misty is, how much of the limelight does she want, because she will steal a little bit from you every time you listen to this striking, captivating, and unique songstress. The knights salute you!
