One of the stand-out tracks from a recent Music Knights show (from Friday 2nd March) was Youth by Foxes.  This is a brand new song from a London based artist called Loui Allen (yes, I mis-read that as Lily when I read it for the first time too).  At only 22 years old, Loui Rose, as she prefers to be called, is on the crest of a wave at the moment, and, in my opinion, this song sums up her amazingness.

This particular track has got some amazing electronic yet atmospheric pacy riffs which twin perfectly with her very raw but talented vocal.  The start of the song reminds me of the track on that infamous “tick tock” Guiness advert, which indicates that it is building towards a special crescendo.  Sure enough, we get to that moment via some beautifully different segments where her vocal take charge.

After the initial introduction to the melody, we are treated to some raw echoey percussion, and as the beat and her voice takes charge, a dub-step sounding track comes in.  Later we are slowed down and given a piano interlude, before the track whips itself (on 2 min 46 sec) into a frenzy of beats and anthemic sirens – reminding me of the kind of rhythms that “Stomp” used to create.

Listen to the track here to tell us what you think…
